Eat the Alphabet!

One of my favorite volunteer experiences took place during my Foodservice rotation. My preceptor had mentioned a program entitled "Eat the Alphabet." I decided to volunteer one evening at the event at a local elementary. Each letter of the alphabet correlated with a food that participants may or may not be familiar with. I really enjoyed that the event encouraged students and their parents to try new foods that they could be added to their diets. Introduction of new foods to kids is sometimes difficult but by making it a game the kids were more willing to try it out.
